Our visit to Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) provided our students with a unique opportunity to learn about JLR – the UK’s largest automotive manufacturing business.
Throughout the day we learnt about the innovative robots that JLR uses in its world leading manufacturing processes. We got the chance to explore behind the scenes at the company’s manufacturing plant. It was really exciting. Unfortunately we were told to turn our phones of due to the secret nature of production which meant we couldn’t take selfies with the cool robots.
We saw sheets of aluminium enter the press and come out of the press as parts for cars. We saw robots putting parts together as well as people working very hard on the production line. It made us appreciate the amount of work that goes in to manufacturing cars.
We discovered the vast range of career opportunities within the automotive industry, the different training opportunities available within the company and explored the skills that employers, like JLR, are looking for in the next generation of engineers.
