National Memorial Arboretum Guiding Light Exhibition

On Thursday, Mrs Harvey, Miss Dartford and Mrs Jolley attended the opening night of the National Memorial Arboretum’s Guiding Light exhibition. The project, created in partnership with the Royal British Legion, is part of a national tour by artist Mahtab Hussain, shining a light on the often forgotten contributions of the British Indian Army.
Our Year 9 Art students worked with Mahtab and artist Benny Semp to design posters inspired by WW2 and explore themes of diversity, inclusion and belonging. Thank you to Mr Goodall for sharing his expertise and helping pupils develop their ideas.
We are very proud to share that our students’ work is now on display at the Arboretum until March. When Mahtab’s bronze cast begins its tour around the country, it will also carry some of our pupils’ artwork, reaching around 20,000 visitors.
All participating students have received a free ticket to see their work on display and visit the light trail, courtesy of the Arboretum. Details have been emailed to students this week. For any questions, please contact Mrs Harvey.
Well done Year 9!
