Building Your Future

If you choose to study with us, you can expect to receive a first-class education in your own purpose-built learning centre. You will be offered the support you need to flourish alongside the freedom you would expect as young adult learners.

We offer 6th form students an inclusive environment where all students are valued. We have historic success in students reaching their goals, with over 85% of students going onto university, further training, apprenticeships, and the workplace immediately after gaining their qualifications.  Whatever your dream is, when you leave our 6th form centre, we will support you in achieving the qualifications and gaining the character you need ready for your next steps.

Students in our 6th form typically study three A levels or a mixture of A levels and Btec Level 3 qualifications. Students can also study the extended project qualification and resit maths or English language at GCSE level. This is compulsory for students who haven’t achieved a grade 4 at GCSE. Students who require a higher grade in maths or English to secure university or workplace offers will also be supported to do so.

Students receive 5 hours per week of taught learning in each Level 3 qualification studied and are expected to study for 5 hours per week per subject outside of lessons. They are supported in school with training on independent study as well as being able to access the schools excellent study resources and study rooms. These include access to textbooks and ICT facilities. Students are also supported with numerous online study platforms including Up-learn for maths and sciences at A level and Know It All Ninja for Btec ICT.

Our enrichment curriculum allows students to identify opportunities to develop their character. Be it volunteering, student leadership opportunities or extra-curricular opportunities, students can access a range of on-site provision to develop their leadership, organisation, resilience, independence, and communication skills.

Students at our 6th form benefit from continued pastoral support. Students have two, 30-minute sessions per week in our character development program with their form tutor. These sessions deliver the wider curriculum including careers education and PSHE. A weekly assembly occurs on Wednesdays. Students also have a mentor which offers bespoke support with applications to university and careers as well as general pastoral support. Weekly career talks by guest speakers can be attended to understand entry routes into professions.

Outside of lessons, we have a range of opportunities for extracurricular visits. There are termly reward trips just for 6th form students as well our bi-annual New York 6th form trip. Students can also access other opportunities such as the school ski trip. Students are rewarded for good attendance, engagement, and completion of independent study.

A welcome message from the head of our 6th Form College: Mr Norton

If you choose to study with us you can expect to receive a first class education in your own purpose built learning centre. You will be offered the support you need to flourish alongside the freedom you would expect as young adult learners.

As well as outstanding teaching you will have your own quiet study areas and a common room to relax in (or play table football in your break times!) You will have the opportunity to be part of the 6th form leadership team and influence all aspects of 6th form life.

In 2013 100% of our students went on to study a range of subjects at university as diverse as aerospace engineering and medicine or began exciting careers.  In 2016 we achieved a 100% pass rate at A-level with over half of the grades being B (or equivalent) or better.

Paulet 6th Form College is the first choice for aspirational learners from East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.

A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE ASSISTANT HEAD OF OUR 6TH FORM COLLEGE: MS SPENCE

I have worked in the 6th form for the past three years. The staff and the students make it a fun and vibrant place to be and to learn. I am thrilled to be the Assistant Head of 6th Form at the Paulet 6th Form College.

My main focus is to support our students to achieve their full potential and I am especially passionate about our students’ welfare and progress. I believe that without the appropriate support, progress can be difficult to achieve. Luckily, here at our 6th Form College, there are many opportunities for young people to get the help they need.

If you decide to join us it won’t take you long to settle in at Paulet and I’m sure you’ll leave, two years later, with fantastic results as well as great memories.
