Year 9 county cup football match!

On an unseasonably warm February afternoon, Paulet year 9 boys dominated their county cup sem-final against St Margaret Ward of Stoke.

It was one-way traffic in the first half with Paulet clearly on top. The first clear cut chance came from a fantastic through ball from Tom with Callum latching onto it and sending it past the St Margaret’s keeper to make it 1v0.

Paulet didn’t take their foot of the gas and the attempts continued to rain down on St Margaret Ward’s goal, but the next goal had to wait until he second half.

St Margaret Ward’s started the second period with more urgency and purpose, though the Paulet boys had an answer for all their questions.

Paulet regained the upper hand and started to press St Margaret Ward back. And it wasn’t long until a well worked play finished with a magnificent cross from fullback Charlie was steered into the St Margaret Ward’s goal by Callum to make it 2v0.

St Margaret Ward tried to fight to stay in the competition but the Paulet boys were just too fierce and yet another spell of Paulet possession culminated with a simple finished from Harry to finally put the tie to bed and the boys in the county final with a 3v0 victory.

Well done to all the boys for their hard work and perseverance in a cup run that began in September in Stafford, that will conclude with them playing in the final at Stafford Town FC.
